The Oregon women’s lacrosse program continues to make history in its inaugural season.
Oregon freshman infielder Jen May was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Co-Player of the Week on Wednesday. The honor is a first for the Oregon program. Denver midfielder Stephanie Greenlees earned the other co-player of the week honor.
May, a Davidsonville, Md., native, scored a combined seven goals last week in a 16-6 victory against Davidson and a 21-8 loss to No. 3 North Carolina. The 18-year-old scored five goals against Davidson, four coming in the first 13 minutes of play. She also led the team with seven draw controls and six ground balls, along with two assists.
In Friday’s loss to the Tar Heels, May scored two goals and added two ground balls, three draw controls and three caused turnovers.
At South River High School in Maryland, May was a first-team all-county pick by The Washington Post. She lettered four times in lacrosse and earned All-American honors during her junior season. At 5-foot-5, May also lettered in track, where she was a state champion in the pole vault.
The Ducks (3-9 overall) continue action when they travel north to Portland to play the Portland Club team in an exhibition game at
11 a.m. Saturday at Mary Rieke
Elementary School.
Oregon has three more games
