An unusually good year in music wraps up over the next few months with a few more exciting releases. Both modern artists and older performers have recordings slated for release, with a few highly anticipated works on their way to store shelves.
On Sept. 27, power pop forerunner Big Star will release “In Space,” the band’s first new studio album in 30 years. Singer/songwriter Neil Young’s “Prairie Wind” will hit the shelves. Blackalicious, Metric and Sheryl Crow also have releases scheduled.
Oct. 3 brings recordings from post-punk band The Fall with “Fall Heads Roll.”
Oct. 4 Franz Ferdinand will follow up its popular self-titled debut with “You Could Have It So Much Better.” Alt-country My Morning Jacket will release its fourth album, “Z” and Nickleback and Liz Phair are also planning on releasing new albums.
Oct. 11 Dashboard Confessional will release its currently untitled album, The Constantines will release “Tournament of Hearts” and Deerhoof’s “The Runners Four” will begin circulation.
Oct. 25 brings the latest from the Fiery Furnaces while Nov. 1 brings the latest from Santana, “All That I Am.”
Other 2005 releases with no release date set include two albums from Ryan Adams, a new album from AFI, The Buzzcocks “Flat Pack Philosophy” and new albums from Built to Spill, Cat Power, Pearl Jam, the Scissor Sisters, the Liars, TV on the Radio, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Pete Yorn.
