Eugene Police and the University of Oregon Police department arrested two suspects in connection with a shooting that happened near 17th and Ferry last night, according to the Eugene Police Department.
EPD arrested 20-year-old Christopher Tyreek Alexander, who is from Portland, and charged him with unlawful possession of a firearm, among other things.
UOPD later located 19-year-old Dylan Robert Brown, also from Portland, in the campus cemetery and charged him with carrying a concealed weapon and trespass with a firearm. The post said that UOPD may bring more charges against Brown.
Alexander and Brown are not students at UO.
The post stated that a 911 call was placed to complain about a large group fighting and that EPD officers went to the scene when they heard the shots fired.
According to the post, a stray bullet hit an 18-year-old woman who was driving on 15th and Ferry. EPD said that the woman, who was not involved with the fight, is being treated in the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Last night’s incident comes just two weeks after several fraternity members were assaulted on 14th and Ferry on Oct. 27, which is commonly known as “Halloweekend.”
Residents of the area took to social media to notify EPD about the incident.
