Kaleidescope Music Festival was the first ever multi-genre camping music festival in Eugene, Oregon that occurred on Friday, August 23rd through Sunday the 25th. The eccentric festival had an eclectic mix of music types; electronic Dance, Indie Rock, Hip-Hop, Bluegrass and more. It featured artists such as NAS, Bassnectar, Empire Of The Sun, DJ Shadow, Amp Live and Afroman. The festival grounds, located at the Mount Pisgah arboretum was scattered with interactive art exhibits and featured live performance art troupes doing aerial stunts and belly dancing. The festival also offered alternative activities such as yoga and guided nature hikes. Ken Kesey’s famous ‘Further’ bus was parked in the festival grounds adding a psychedelic feature to the festival. Even though the festival claimed to emphasize on environmental preservation, the event ended controversially with many complaints about litter and noise from nearby residents. This festival was put on by the Eugene based OneEleven production company. They provided a sensory overload for festival attendees with fun music, exaggerated lights and interactive exhibits.
