Despite Jillian Alleyne’s 17 point effort in the second half, the Oregon women’s basketball team fell in its final game of the South Point Shootout in Las Vegas, Nevada to American, 72-64.
Alleyne’s 17 points and 10 rebounds were enough for her fourth double-double of the season and 46th of her career.
The Ducks now are 2-3.
Oregon never led, but closed the gap to within two early in the second half. A pair of Amanda Delgado threes made the score 35-33 with 14:35 to go, but the Ducks allowed American to tally a 22-7 run to push the lead to 57-40 with just under seven minutes remaining.
Lexi Petersen tallied a team-high 21 points. She also recored six rebounds and four assists.
The Ducks shot just 11.1 percent from three-point range in the first half (1-of-9), but recored a 37.5 percentage in the second half. In points off turnovers, the Ducks were outscored 20-11.
American had four players in double-digits: Jen Dumiak (22), Shaquilla Curtis (14), Michelle Holmes (14) and Arron Zimmerman (12).
Dumiak also finished with 10 assits and eight rebounds, including 8-of-8 shooting from the free-throw line.
Next up for the Ducks: Oregon will travel to Portland on Dec. 5 for a 7 p.m. tipoff. The next day, the Ducks host Navy at 7 p.m.
