– Good news for Oregon football as the Ducks have landed yet another top recruit. Linebacker Jimmie Swain verbally committed to Oregon during a high school all-star game Sunday. Swain, who is from Olathe, Kan. is listed at 6-foot-3 and weighs 219-pounds. He is considered a three-star recruit by Rivals and a four-star by ESPN. Swain was also considering Arkansas, Texas and Texas A&M before finally settling on the Ducks.
– Oregon women’s basketball fell to No. 23 California in overtime 101-98. The loss finished up a two-game road trip to open Pac-12 play for the Ducks. Oregon led at halftime before giving up an 11-2 run. The Ducks eventually battled back, pushing the game to overtime before succumbing to the Golden Bears. Star forward Reshanda Gray had game-highs of 33 points and 13 rebounds. Chrishae Rowe led Oregon in scoring with 24 points and added 10 rebounds.
– Oregon running back De’Anthony Thomas has decided to enter the NFL draft. On Sunday, his 21st birthday, Thomas announced his decision to forego his senior season with the Ducks. – Oregon men’s basketball is no longer undefeated. No. 10 Oregon fell to No. 20 Colorado 100-91 in Boulder. There were several lead changes in what was a tight game despite the Ducks giving up their second-most points allowed this season. The Buffaloes enjoyed a 39-to-33 rebounding advantage and the Ducks struggled from the free throw line, shooting 16-of-21 (76.2 percent). Joseph Young, Damyean Dotson and Mike Moser all played well, with Moser finishing with a team-high 24 points.
– The Emerald published a profile Sunday about Oregon football walk-on tight end Brian Teague and all the struggles he went through as a player: extra hours he put in, a lack of the benefits that other players got to enjoy and never earning a scholarship in his five years as a Duck. It’s a look inside what most walk-on players must endure.
