Christmas sweaters are down right ugly. So ugly that we can’t figure out why we love to wear them every year, hell – we even throw or attend a party in their honor each holiday season. It’s the same deal with TV Christmas movies: they air on those all-year-round-cheesy channels, making us cringe — but we can’t seem to look away. You know you all have that one favorite, whether it stars your favorite grown-up child star or if it serves as another excuse to stay in your pajamas til 2:34 p.m., here are 7 you might want to give a chance before changing that channel on all those we love to hate.
1. 12 Dates of Christmas: Staring Mark-Paul Gosselaar (aka Zack from Saved By The Bell #90sBabies) and Amy Smart (Just Friends) tells the whimsical tale of Smart, who gets a chance to re-live her Christmas Eve blind date with Gosselaar 12 times due to messing up the first one. Corny, but when would a girl ever deny a chance to stare at Gosselaar for 90 minutes? That Zack Morris aged like a fine wine.
2. Naughty and Nice: In a small Nebraska town, Haylie Duff (sister of Hilary Duff) has an on-air spat with a hopeless romantic (Tilky Jones), which agonistic chemistry later catches interest of the whole neighborhood. Won’t need to reheat your hot coco while watching this couple steam up your TV.
3. Moonlight & Mistletoe: Candace Cameron Bure (Full House, you remember) and her love interest, played by Matt Walton try to bring back the Christmas spirit of her father’s town named Santaville. Will DJ Tanner be able to restore Santaville, her battered relationship with her father and save Christmas?! The anticipation is seriously equal to Interstellar.
4. A Christmas Kiss: Exactly what many of us will be watching with our boyfriends – Ben & Jerry – as we scroll Instagram and “like” another picture of another girl with her actual boyfriend while she’s probably holding a Tiffany’s box. Bartender – I mean mom, hand me another pint. Yeah, Phish Food, you know what I like.
5. Holiday in Handcuffs: Mario Lopez, the man who can’t seem to find a shirt, falls for crazy lady Melissa Joan Hart who kidnaps Lopez and brings him home to meet her parents on Christmas. Now, why didn’t I think of that idea first?
6. Snowglobe: Christina Milian goes from chair dancing in raunchy music videos to discovering a Christmas-themed world inside of a snow globe after wanting to find an escape from her mediocre holiday season, left to choose between two guys. Boy, life is rough.
7. Snow: Just before Christmas, a brave man named Nick (shocker), sets out on a journey to save a reindeer from a local zoo. And all in the process, falls in love with a woman trying to find a replacement Santa for her daycare, but Nick is Santa! Man, ABC Family, you got us again!
