Oregon lacrosse was able to fight its way back into the win column after defeating UC Davis 10-7 on the road Sunday afternoon.
It was the work of senior midfielder Devon Frazer that helped push the Ducks over the top. She scored a team-high three goals on six shots, including two off of free-position shots.
Neither the Aggies nor the Ducks were able to pull away from the other, as the score was close throughout the match.
Though Oregon saw the opening score go its way thanks to the efforts of Olivia Pyne off a Hayley Milner assist, UC Davis quickly took control with a flurry of three goals.
For the most part, the Ducks’ defense succeeded at keeping the Aggie attackers in check, holding them to just 12 shots in the game. However, when UC Davis did get a shot off, it was dangerous, challenging Oregon keeper Jenna Morris. Morris, a junior, finished with just three saves.
Oregon made its move from behind, 4-2. The Ducks scored eight unanswered goals spanning the end of the first and start of the second to take control of the match. During that stretch six different players were able to find the back of the net.
Oregon’s Carly O’Connell also had a good performance for her team, finishing with two goals and an assist.
The biggest difference in the match was UC Davis’ inability to hold onto position. They struggled with turnovers, committing 27 in total. Of those turnovers, 16 were caused by the efforts of Oregon. In contrast, the Ducks only had 17.
Oregon will travel to Colorado to take on Denver next Friday in the penultimate match of the regular season. The start time is scheduled at 4 p.m.
