It’s a full weekend of Oregon sports on tap in Eugene.
– The No. 2-ranked Oregon softball team is back in action this weekend. Oregon hosts No. 19 Arizona State in a three-game series. Janie Takeda is expected to return to the lineup for the Ducks on offense.
– The men’s and women’s track and field teams are in action on Saturday at Hayward Field for the first time in 10 months in the Pepsi Invitational against Washington and Kentucky. Said Oregon redshirt sophomore Jasmine Todd: “That’s the best part about being here, running in front of all the fans.”
– Ken Goe of The Oregonian wrote about Will Geoghegan, a distance runner for the Ducks who transferred from Dartmouth and has one year of eligibility remaining. He’s expected to compete in the 5,000 meters for the Ducks on Saturday in a star-studded field.
– Across the Willamette River, Oregon baseball plays host to Oregon State for a three-game Civil War Series. The struggling Ducks are 6-13 since a pivotal series against San Francisco and have a three-man starting rotation in Conor Harber, Cole Irvin and David Peterson.
– Oregon lacrosse lost last night at Stanford in the Bay Area 15-10 in the first game of its final road trip of the season. Stanford got ahead 4-0 early and held off the Ducks for the win.
– On Thursday, the Oregon athletic department announced a change in ticket prices for 2015-16 men’s basketball games. On average, prices were decreased 34 percent, mostly due to the worst home attendance for the program in more than 20 years. The Ducks drew, on average, 6,209 fans per home game this season, which ranked seventh in the Pac-12.
