The 2015 ASUO Elections voter guide was planned to go live at 9 a.m. on March 31, complete with a video of all candidates that evening. However, currently if voters were to access elections.uoregon.edu in order to watch the videos, they would still met with a large banner declaring that the voter guide is “coming soon.”
Meanwhile, general elections polls are scheduled to close at 4 p.m. Friday. The purpose of the voter guide is for a detailed look at all candidates of the three slates: Ducks F.I.R.S.T, UO Forward and We are Oregon. The site contains a one minute video of them answering the same three questions.
According to Aven-itza De Primavera, a member of the team of students behind the development of the voter guide, the videos of all 95 candidates have been sent to the web developer, Carter Fritsch, who is uploading the videos on the voter guide webpage. She has sent out an email to all ASUO elections candidates that there has been a delay, and that the voter guide should be up by 12 p.m. today.
Fritsch mentioned that there have been difficulties getting the content together and into the website’s pages.
Members of the five person team had cited several challenges in their development of the first interactive voter guide of any ASUO election.
Although the team had designing the guide the second week of winter term, the team lacked information on the scale of the candidates running as they worked with the elections committee.
Initially they expected 40 candidates to run and found out two weeks before spring break that there would be 95 candidates.
