After a long day of class or work, sometimes the last thing you want is to go home and make dinner or go out and find something to eat. So time consuming.
Fortunately, Eugene is a great college town with a bunch of restaurant options that deliver good food right to your door. In many cases the prices aren’t too bad either. The hardest part may be choosing what type of food you want!
Here are a few local options that will deliver, along with some menu and price information.
Dough Co. — Most people know Dough Co. as the little hole-in-the-wall calzone and cookie capital of Eugene, and its restaurant on 13th Avenue and Hilyard Street is the place to be on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. But some don’t know that for just a $2 delivery charge they will bring the ‘zones to you! The food is awesome, and it’s one of the most inexpensive delivery options in Eugene.
Kowloon Restaurant & Lounge — If you find yourself craving Chinese food, Kowloon is the place to call. They have a huge menu to choose from, and the delivery charge is only $3 (not including tip). They will deliver until midnight most nights but will extend those hours to 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, so it’s perfect for students. Most entrees are around $12 a piece, which is a bit expensive, but the portions are meant for sharing, so split the bill with a friend.
The Pita Pit — Another great place to order from when taking price into account is The Pita Pit. They have a wide range of choices and most pitas are under $7. It’s a great healthy place to order from, and they also have a vegetarian section on the menu. It should be advised that the minimum order cost to deliver is $10, so you may need to order a few items to reach that, and there is a delivery charge of $3 as well (not including a tip).
Tasty Thai Kitchen — If you’re looking to shake up your dinner and try something new, the Tasty Thai Kitchen is the place to call. The food is above average and their full dinner menu is available for delivery with only a $3 delivery fee (tip not included). However, they only deliver between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. so if you want to order from there make sure to plan ahead and call within those hours.
The Mission Mexican Restaurant & Cantina — Want a taste from south of the border without leaving your home? If so, The Mission is a convenient solution. They deliver all day until 10 p.m. most days and 11 p.m. Fridays. The food is pretty good by Eugene standards of Mexican food. The delivery time is pretty short, since it is so close to campus, and many people do not know they deliver.
Track Town Pizza — While Domino’s and Pizza Hut are massive pizza chains, Track Town is known as one of the best local pizza places in Eugene. The cost is pretty low for the quality of food you get and there are coupons everywhere to make the price even lower.
Jade Palace Chinese Restaurant — Another great Chinese food option. They specialize in Cantonese and Szechuan food and have great seafood, vegetarian and vegan options as well. They charge $3.50 extra for delivery and the minimum order must cost more than $15, so find a friend to share with. The food is great and it’s pretty inexpensive for the portions you get!
Pony Express Delivery — This service offers to go to restaurants and pick up orders for people and bring them to their homes. They have over 45 different restaurants to choose from and the service is very good. Chili’s, Marie Callender’s and Sweet Life are all on the list of places they will go. The delivery charge varies by location, but if college students order online there is a great discount!
So don’t worry about going grocery shopping or preparing a meal after a long, hard day. Just pick up the phone and good food will be knocking at your door before you know it!
