Twin brothers Eric and Matt Dettman, both redshirt sophomores, finished second and fifth, respectively, among attached runners as part of a small Oregon men’s contingent competing in Saturday’s Beaver Classic in Corvallis.
The eight-kilometer race was won by former Oregon runner Carlos Trujillo in 23:49. His brother and former Oregon teammate, Esteban Trujillo, finished second in 24:10. Both ran unattached.
Following Eric (24:32) and Matt Dettman (24:44) were redshirt sophomore Isaac Stoutenburgh (sixth among attached runners, 24:45), senior Vincent D’Onofrio (eighth, 24:55), redshirt senior A.J. Casteel (15th, 25:41) and redshirt sophomore David Bondi (40th overall, 26:04). Oregon freshman Bryce Burgess ran unattached and finished 13th overall (24:56).
The UO Running Club brought a large contingent to the meet, and Keith Laverty once again led the men. The senior from Woodinville, Wash., finished 14th overall in 24:56. Matt Barnhart was close behind at 17th overall (25:19), followed by senior David Reid (29th overall, 25:50), junior Brad Russell (31st overall, 25:54) and graduate student Conor O’Brien (34th overall, 25:56).
Junior Kristen Mohror, from Chamberlain, S.D., was the highest-finishing woman among the club runners, completing the 6K race in 22:26 (17th overall). Following Mohror were Kelsey Stilson (31st overall, 22:57), Ann Hagy (56th overall, 23:58), Chelsea Oda (58th overall, 24:00), Jordi Hurd (61st overall, 24:05) and Kalin Sommer (62nd overall, 24:06).
