Eugene Mayor Kitty Piercy and Oregon Attorney General candidate John Kroger will team up on the University campus today to visit with students and faculty.
According to Kroger’s campaign manager Harry Wilson, Kroger chose to accompany Piercy to show his support for her. Wilson said Kroger looks forward to thanking students for helping him win the primary election back in May.
Piercy and Kroger will arrive on campus at 1:30 p.m. and will start their visit on the corner of East 13th Avenue and University Street.
The Eugene Firefighters Union will bring a union fire truck to endorse Piercy. The candidates also plan to attend the ASUO Street Faire to casually converse with students and faculty.
Piercy and Kroger will host a question and answer forum at 2:15 p.m. in the Metolious Room in the EMU. They will discuss key issues, including sustainability and sustainable jobs, and ending hate and discrimination on campus and throughout Eugene. Piercy’s campaign manager, Mary Van Noy, expressed how important it was for the candidates to visit the University. “It is a very close mayoral race and we want students to know that their votes count,” she said.
