Oregon sophomore golfer Kate Hildahl qualified for the U.S. Women’s Amateur by shooting a two-over 74 at the Amateur qualifier on Wednesday, held at the Portland Golf Club.
Hildahl finished third, two strokes behind the winner in the single round tournament that decided the qualifiers for next month’s U.S. Women’s Amateur tournament, held at Eugene Country Club Aug. 4-10.
Also on Wednesday, freshman Kendra Little finished three strokes back at 76 and lost in a playoff for the event’s second alternate position.
Six other Ducks played in the tournament: Freshman Erica Omlid (78); juniors Blair Ressler (79) and Cathryn Bristow (79); freshman Monika Graf (81); and head coach Shannon Rouillard (81). Freshman Kendra Little lost a playoff to be the second alternate, but shot a 76.
Rouillard advanced the to U.S. Women’s Amateur in 2006, the last Duck to do so.
“She came off a strong spring, and is continuing to mature to even higher levels this summer,” Rouillard said.
