University students will dance all day Saturday as part of the second annual Dance Marathon.
Dance Marathon is a network of more than 80 college campuses from around the country which host fundraisers of the same name for the Children’s Miracle Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children.
Through pledges from friends and family members, University students will raise money for Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene and Portland’s Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, two of the 170 hospitals affiliated with CMN.
Dance Marathon started at Indiana University in 1995 and has since raised more than $21 million, nearly $18,000 of which came from the University last year. This year, the goal is to raise $30,000.
The event will also include salsa and ballroom dance lessons, as well as performances by the University’s cheerleading squad, the UO Jam Squad and dance team.
Dance Marathon will take place Saturday in the EMU Ballroom from 9 a.m. until midnight.
