The University’s Lundquist Center for Entrepreneurship will host an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Showcase tonight in the Lillis Business Complex atrium from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The open house is intended to invite students to display their innovations, which includes anything from graphic arts, video arts, product design, architecture and musical performances. Attendees will be asked to cast ballots to vote on their favorite display. The chosen winner will receive a cash prize for The People’s Choice Award of $250.
The event will also feature an Innovation of the Year Award, in which students were invited to submit an entry that can “provide some value to the world.” The award’s first place winner will receive $500, and the second place will receive $250.
“We wanted to reach out beyond the business school to connect with students in other parts of the campus that are using entrepreneurship, as well,” said Dick Sloan, undergraduate coordinator for innovation and entrepreneurship. “What we’re providing is an innovation and entrepreneurship showcase within Lillis where students can display their innovative output.”
The showcase event will also mark the kickoff of the undergraduate Venture Quest Business Plan Competition. The competition will feature a total of 10 teams: five made up of business majors, and five teams comprised of business minors. The teams will compete in accordance to their respective track.
“The common theme that runs through it all is the celebration of entrepreneurship, which can be found anywhere on campus,” said Sloan.
