There’s a crisp breeze in the air, multicolored leaves falling from the trees, bikes whizzing past and the bustle of the ASUO Street Faire nestled on 13th Avenue in the middle of the University of Oregon campus. A few days during each fall and spring term, the Associated Students of the UO host a wide variety of food vendors, jewelry shops, clothing stands, and more for local enjoyment. We spoke to a few of the food vendors about which dishes students enjoyed most, as well as something the young college-goers may not know about them.
Bates Catering
Popular dish: Tri-tip sandwich – loaded with grilled onions, bacon, and cheese (as seen on Food Network!)
Bates Steakhouse & Saloon Restaurant is on the corner of Broadway and Mill St. in Eugene.
Three Forks
Popular dish: Pad thai w/ peanut sauce
The Three Forks crew, Raphael, Scott, and Ryan, cater as many as 15 summer festivals every year.
Every Day Kine
Popular dish: Kalua pork
This crew has a food truck on 19th and Agate St. with a new menu item every day.
Maty’s Peruvian Food
Popular dish: Juane & empanadas
Working as a family, the Maty’s crew holds a booth at the Oregon County Fair and the Salem Saturday Market.
Noodles Rice
Popular dish: Teriyaki chicken with yakisoba noodles and rice
The folks at Noodles Rice worked at the Pendleton Whiskey Festival this year (and had a blast!)
