The Hult Center for the Performing Arts, Eugene’s prized venue for various
artistic performances of dance, theater, opera and more, is preparing to amaze
and entertain audiences for yet another season. This fall’s schedule of
events includes contributions from the Eugene Ballet, the Eugene Symphony and
the Willamette Repertory Theatre, as well as performances by David Copperfield
and Lyle Lovett.
Three unique venues comprise the Hult Center: According to the Center’s
Web site, the Silva Concert Hall’s “graceful ‘basketweave’
ceiling, balconies with sweeping curves, and wooden ‘roll top’ ceiling
over the mezzanine … is reminiscent of an early 19th century European opera
house.” With a seating capacity of 2,500, the Silva Concert Hall is a large,
beautiful and professional setting for artists and audiences alike.
The Soreng Theater, the Center’s 500-seat room, is dissimilar to the architecture
of the Silva Concert Hall. It is a “multi-use facility; [it] can be an
open concert platform … a proscenium stage by use of sliding portal pieces,
or it can be a thrust stage by adding a pit cover,” according to the Center’s
Web site. Both the Silva and Soreng theaters are located in the Hult Center
at 7th & Willamette.
Finally, the 4,500-seat Cuthbert Amphitheater is located in the center of Alton
Baker Park next to the Willamette River. Surrounded by nature, this “summer
facility is ideal for popular musicians … and is open between the months
of June and September,” according to the Center’s Web site.
This fall’s schedule is filled with a variety of events for people of
all ages and interests. Watch for further updates and additions by visiting
