U.S. Presidential election results:
Donald J. Trump (R) has won the U.S. presidential election.
Partial results as of 9:12 a.m. on Nov. 6 show Trump has surpassed the 270 electoral vote threshold candidates need to win the presidency. He has 277 electoral votes against his opponent Kamala Harris (D) who has 224 electoral votes.
Harris was previously the attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017 before becoming a United States Senator in 2017. Prior to running alongside President Joe Biden, Harris had sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 2019 and dropped out during the primaries.
Trump’s presidency from 2017-2021 was marked by significant tax cuts, deregulation policies and stricter immigration policies. His current campaign has largely focused on immigration reform and economic efforts. Throughout the year, the former president has been involved in several legal battles, including multiple indictments due to his actions in office.
