“It was exciting after going through all the training and finally getting to wear the big ‘O’ on my chest,” Cabral told GoDucks.com. “I was trying to break 14 seconds, and I got 13.93 so I was happy.”
The women’s 4×100 meter relay team also had a record-setting day, finishing with a time of 44.29 seconds, a meet record by .01 seconds. The quartet of seniors Lauryn Newson and Amber Purvis, freshman Jenna Prandini (also in her Oregon debut) and sophomore English Gardner beat the competition by over two seconds and recorded the fifth-fastest time in school history. @@http://www.goducks.com/fls/500/track/1112/preview/index.htm?SPID=243&DB_OEM_ID=500@@
Prandini also anchored the women’s 4×400-meter relay team that finished in 3:48.37. Prandini, junior Devin Gosberry, sophomore Chizoba Okodogbe and junior Alexandria Davidson came in nearly 11 seconds before the second-place team.
Oregon’s men’s 4×100-meter team of sophomore Dior Mathis (a cornerback on the football team), freshman B.J. Kelley (a wide receiver), freshman Arthur Delaney and junior Joeal Hotchkins also won their heat in 40.68. @@http://www.goducks.com/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=500&SPID=233&SPSID=3378@@
Mathis also won the 100-meter dash in 10.73, and Kelley won his heat and placed second overall with a time of 10.84.
Senior Alex Kosinski won the women’s 1,500 meters in 4:30.61, and Purvis was victorious in the women’s 400 in 54.64.
The men’s 4×400-meter relay quartet of senior Bruce Burbank, freshman Russell Hornsby, sixth-year senior Travis Thompson and senior Bryan Harper also won in 3:13.58, beating the field by seven seconds.
Junior Austin Ouderkirk won the pole vault at 16.075 and junior Tyler Pinkney was victorious in the triple jump in 47-6.25.
