Thumbs up
Arik Armstead@@http://rivals.yahoo.com/usc/football/recruiting/player-Arik-Armstead-99535@@ is a Duck
Among the top recruits in the nation, Armstead gives the Ducks some size on the line and an elite name for this year’s recruiting class. Armstead is not a unanimous 5-star, but he’s the closest the Ducks have had in recent years and brings solid excitement to the program. The consensus among the Oregon fanhood is that this move solidifies the team among the elites. And that’s fun.
Faculty unionization
From what we’ve heard, proceedings for University faculty to organize a labor union are going about amicably between both professors and the administration. We don’t know how you feel about the organization of labor, but know this: The adjunct faculty teach many of your classes and are starting to feel underrepresented in the University governance model. That sounds like as good a reason as any to start a union.
Thumbs down
GOP debates
They’re still happening. And with all this talking that Newt Gingrich has been required to do, he’s at the place of calling for a moon base.@@yes! goin’ to the moon!@@ Seriously. The GOP debates are an easy target, because there were just so many of them for so long. But beyond that, they’re so vitriolic that they create a horrifying spectacle for us all to consume.
Oregon men’s basketball losing
Guys, you get our hopes up for weeks and then roll back into town — in front of a packed house — and lay an egg. Twenty-three total turnovers does not a pretty game make. We’re starting to come to the conclusion that men’s basketball at the University wasn’t meant to hold first place in the conference, given that the men had just tied for first with Cal before playing this poorly Sunday.
