At the IAAF World Athletics Championships in London, multiple Oregon Ducks lined up among the world’s best in the stadium that held the 2012 Olympic Games.
On Saturday, former Oregon athlete Zoe Buckman, who represents Australia, missed the cut in the 1,500-meter semifinal, but on Sunday there was a plethora of Ducks competing.
Devon Allen and Johnathan Cabral, representing the United States and Canada, respectively, ran in different 110-meter hurdles heats on Saturday. Allen won his heat with a time of 13.26 seconds while Cabral finished fourth in his heat in 13.53. Both qualified for the semifinals in the afternoon session.

Allen raced in the second heat and finished third in 13.27; however, his time was not fast enough to advance to Monday’s final. Cabral came seventh in 14.98 in the third heat and also failed to qualify for the final.
On Saturday, Deajah Stevens came second in her 100-meter heat in 11.17 seconds as Ariana Washington finished third in her heat in 11.28, coming behind Rio 2016 100 and 200 gold medalist Jamaican Elaine Thompson and Canadian Crystal Emmanuel.
Stevens and Washington were in separate semifinal heats.
Stevens came last in an eight-runner field in the first semifinal, running the race in 11.32. Washington finished seventh in 11.29 as neither runner qualified for the final.
Both have the 4×100-meter to look forward to. Stevens also has the 200-meter.
Phyllis Francis was the first Duck to compete on Sunday, as she finished second in her 400-meter heat with a time of 50.94 seconds, qualifying for Monday’s semifinal.
On Monday, recent Oregon graduate Kyree King will compete in the 200 heat and Francis will compete in the 400 final. Stevens’ 200 heat will be on Tuesday.
