The U.S. District Court in Eugene filed criminal charges on Wednesday against Terry Shockley, the owner of Eugene Rentals property management company, The Register-Guard reported.
The complaint tries to seize any assets Shockley may have collected and charges him of two counts of wire fraud. It alleges that Shockley has collected over $3.5 million from his alleged fraud.
Shockley’s attorney, Jessica May, said via email that he will not contest the allegations, but it is unclear when he will make an initial court appearance.
Eugene Rentals, a longtime property manager in Eugene, ran out of business last year. A Washington company was appointed to determine what was left in the company’s trust fund. One day later, Shockley was reported missing with over $1 million.
Property owners and tenants were left to accommodate with financial loses on their own.
