On Saturday, Feb. 28 at 10:30 a.m. the College Democrats of Oregon will host a winter convention at the Lokey Education Building on the UO campus to bring student democrats together to network and interact with elected officials.
Ben Unger from the ‘Our Oregon’ association is scheduled to speak and 11:30 a.m. and former Governor Ted Kulongoski, the keynote speaker, is scheduled to speak at 1:30 p.m. A series of workshops will follow.
A panel discussion with Beaverton City Councilor Lacey Beaty, Eugene Mayor Kitty Piercy, Lane County Commissioner Pete Sorenson, and Oregon Labor Commissioner Brad Avakain is scheduled for 2:30 pm.
“The hope is that through this event people will be able to recognize that there are so many other students across the state who share our ideals and who want to advance these priorities and pieces of legislation by brining them together,” the President of College Democrats of Oregon Kevin Frazier said. “It’s just so much more likely we’ll be able to work together to get things done.”
This event is free to the general public and is scheduled to conclude at 4:30 p.m.
