Q: How long have you been working here? And how did you get this job?
A: I have been the assistant general manager for KWVA for a year and a half, but have worked for the station for five years now.
Actually, I just applied to get this job.
Q: Are you currently a student at the UO?
A: Yes, I am majoring in journalism with an emphasis in public relations.
Q: So you just already had an interest in radio or what sparked you to get into this field?
A: Well I had been working as a regular DJ, and then there was no assistant manager and it seemed like I could do it.
Q: What are your career aspirations?
A: I would like to go work for Public Radio in Portland. Hopefully get an internship in the fall.
Q: What type of work are you most interested in?
A: I would do anything. Behind the scenes, on-air.
Q: Who is a professional idol of yours?
A: I really like Ira Glass. Also, I really like Terry Gross.
Q: Do you play any instruments?
A: I’m a DJ. I play every other Friday at Club Snafu. My name is DJ Jimbo and I just won an award for being Eugene’s third-best DJ in town by Eugene Weekly.
Q: What type of music do you typically play?
A: I usually play electro. I also play a lot of ’80s and ’90s. But lately I’ve been playing a lot of Baltimore club music.
Q: Who are your favorite artists?
A: Mountain Goats, Ice-T, Public Enemy. I also like the new AZ record.
Q: And lastly, when are you on the air?
A: My show, Jimbo’s Radio Show, is on Thursdays at noon.
