Former Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber will discuss a proposed health care bill on Thursday that would allow more state control over how it structures and spends its money on health care.
The Oregon Better Health Act, currently being considered in the Oregon Legislature as one of many health reform bills, seeks to create a more equitable and transparent health care system by allowing more state control over health care spending and by creating a “core benefit” of essential health services.
Kitzhaber, a former emergency room doctor, proposed the bill through his health reform campaign, known as the Archimedes Movement.
The free event, hosted by the League of Women Voters of Lane County, will begin at 12:15 p.m. in the Mallard Banquet Hall at 725 W. 1st St. Lunch is available for $10 and available starting at 11:45 a.m. Lunch reservations can be made by calling (541) 343-7917.
