Galen Rupp keeps adding to his list of honors.
For the second straight year, the Duck distance star was named to ESPN The Magazine’s Track and Field All-Academic First Team. One of 10 men on the first team, Rupp, a junior business major, is carrying a 3.93 cumulative GPA.
Rupp was also selected to the All-District 8 Academic First Team last week.
The academic honors add to a still-growing list of achievements for Rupp in 2006-07. He won the Pacific-10 Conference cross country and outdoor 5,000m and 10,000m titles, leading the Oregon men to both team championships. He also won the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation 3,000m indoor title.
Rupp placed sixth at the NCAA cross country national championships; fourth and third, respectively, in the NCAA indoor 3,000m and 5,000m races; and second in the outdoor 10,000m.
The junior from Portland also set an American collegiate record in the 10,000m at the Cardinal Invitational in April.
Rupp qualified for the World Championships in Japan in August by placing second in last weekend’s USA Track and Field Championships.
