The ASUO will be allowing students to run for four more positions, having learned that their current occupants plan on graduating before the coming school year ends.
Two seats on the ASUO Senate and two seats on the EMU Board of Directors are now open to candidates. The Senate seats are both academic positions, which means they are open only to students in certain majors or programs.
One of the Senate seats is reserved for a student majoring in journalism or participating in the National Student Exchange. Senior Lindsay Reichardt currently holds that seat.
Students in any of nine social sciences majors can run for the other seat, currently held by senior Kristine Jensen.
Reichardt and Jensen are graduating at the end of winter term, meaning the seat will come open before the coming election. In the past, some senators have been appointed before their terms are due to commence if they are elected to open seats.
Filing for the election ends today at 5 p.m.
