The Oregon team stunts and gymnastics squad took home top honors at the USA West Coast Collegiates in Anaheim, Calif., yesterday afternoon.
The Ducks tallied a two-day team total of 93.88 out of a possible 100 points.
The team scores were calculated using the day one score weighted at 40 percent and the day two score weighted at 60 percent. Oregon recorded a 96.4 on Sunday and a 92.2 yesterday to give them the win.
Azusa Pacific followed closely behind in second place with a score of 92.04, while San Diego State took third at 89.92. The Ducks beat out several of the California schools en route to their fifth-straight top-three finish on the season. The squad took first at the Slam City Jamz on Dec. 5 and Pac-West Apple Cup Regional Championship on Jan. 16, followed by a second-place showing at the Nation Cheer Stunts and Tumbling Association Inaugural Meet on Feb. 5, and a third-place finish at the Cheersport Nationals on Feb. 6-7.
Oregon will now look ahead to the program’s first ever home competition, the Duck Invitational, which will be held at McArthur Court on Sunday at 3 p.m. They will also be performing during halftime of the men’s home basketball game on Saturday afternoon. Tip-time for that game is set for 3 p.m.
