After ending their season against the Washington schools, the Oregon women’s volleyball team had three players earn all-conference recognition.
Senior Heather Meyers received first-team All-Pac-10 honors, while sophomore Alaina Bergsma took home an honorable mention nod, and setter Lauren Plum was named to the All-Pac-10 Freshman Team.
In her final season with the Ducks, Meyers finished seventh nationally in aces (0.56 per set), which led the Pacific-10 Conference. Meyers was a two-time honorable mention selection during her career, helping lead a young Oregon squad to its fourth consecutive 19-win season.
In her first year with the Ducks, Bergsma tallied a hitting mark over .300 on 13 occasions, and was named the AVCA National Player of the Week after Oregon’s home wins against the Washington schools in early September.
Plum ranked 11th nationally and first among freshmen in assists with 11.75 per set. On the year, Plum surpassed the 50-assist mark seven times, including a season-high 66 against USC. She led all Pac-10 freshman with seven double-doubles on the season.
Sophomore outside hitter Katherine Fischer took home ESPN Academic All-American honors, the only underclassman to do so.
As a pre-business administration major, Fischer was selected to the six-person third team, and was one of six players on the three teams with a 4.0 cumulative GPA.
Fischer was also one of four Pac-10 players recognized with the Stanford trio of Alix Klineman (first team), Cassidy Lichtman (second team) and Stephanie Browne (third team).
In addition, Klineman was named the Pac-10 Player of the Year, USC’s Falyn Fonoimoana was tabbed Freshman of the Year, and California’s Rich Feller was named Coach of the Year.
