Oregon sophomore Jordan Hasay has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Athlete of the Year for women’s cross country, according to an announcement Wednesday by Pac-10 Commissioner Larry Scott.
A native of Arroyo Grande, Calif., Hasay turned in a stunning cross country season for the Ducks that included three individual titles.
She won the Pac-10 Championships and NCAA West Regional individual titles, and finished third at the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Nov. 22 for the second All-America cross country honor of her career.
Hasay, a human physiology major with a 4.02 grade-point average, is the first Oregon woman to win the award since Lisa Karnoop in 1991. Penny Graves (1986, ‘88), Annette Hand (1987) and Liz Wilson (1990) are the Ducks’ other past winners of the award.
Senior Alex Kosinski joined Hasay on the All-Pac-10 first team for cross country.
On the men’s side, senior Matthew Centrowitz and junior Luke Puskedra were named to the All-Pac-10 first team, with seniors A.J. Acosta and Danny Mercado named to the second team.
