The Oregon men’s basketball team reportedly added another dynamic forward to its lineup Tuesday afternoon when Olu Ashaolu announced he will be transferring to Oregon for the 2011-12 season.
Ashaolu, a 6-foot-7 forward who averaged 14.2 points and 9.4 rebounds for Louisiana Tech as a junior last season, provides the Ducks with added athletic ability as they attempt to improve on last year’s seventh-place finish in the Pacific-10 Conference. @@http://www.latechsports.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/ashaolu_olu00.html@@
“(Dana Altman) expressed that he likes my versatility and that he likes the fact he can move me around and be a mismatch problem,” Ashaolu told the National Hoops Report. “He said he will run a four out and one in. He said he wants to move me all around the court.” @@http://nationalhoopsreport.net/2011/05/24/ashaolu-picks-the-ducks/#more-757@@
Ashaolu said he plans to transfer to Oregon next month and enroll in a graduate program to complete his final year of eligibility immediately. The junior chose Oregon over Texas, San Diego State, and Xavier, and will be reunited with a former AAU teammate Devoe Joseph, who transferred to Oregon from Minnesota last December. @@http://www2.registerguard.com/cms/index.php/duck-mens-basketball/comments/dana-altman-confirms-devoe-joseph-has-transferred-to-oregon/@@
