Five Ducks scored in double figures Monday night as Oregon beat Southwestern Oklahoma State 82-65 in the Ducks’ final tune-up before their season opener against Northern Arizona on Saturday.
E.J. Singler, Tony Woods, Damyean Dotson and Carlos Emory each scored 12 points with Dominic Artis once again leading the team in scoring with 15 points. Singler was near-perfect in limited action returning from a knee injury that kept him out of the Ducks’ first exhibition game.  The Ducks’ most experienced veteran was 5-for-5 from the field including two three-pointers on as many attempts.
“I felt pretty good,” Singler said. “The pain wasn’t there, which is good.”
Along the same trend, veteran Woods was a consistent force offensively, scored all ten of his points from the field on dunks and added two more from the charity stripe.
“I was just looking to get the ball inside,” Woods said.
While the Ducks counted on their veteran leadership, they still showed their youth. The Ducks only return four regulars from last year and are still developing their identity as a team — an identity they will find through competitive practices — a process that may take until the start of Pac-12 season.
“We’ve got a lot of competition yet,” head coach Dana Altman said. “I don’t think we’ll have our roles clearly defined until we get through the month of December. I think it’s gonna take that long — I think it’s going to be 10 or 12 games before we have clear roles of our rotation. We’re going to keep the competition open for a long time.”
Oregon allowed the Bulldogs to sink 10 three-point shots on 22 attempts with seven of the makes coming from Dominick Cornelius.
Turning point. After the Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead behind the strength of their three-point shooting, the Ducks went on a 9-2 run to take a lead which they would never relinquish. A three-pointer from Artis and one of Woods’ five dunks gave Oregon a three-point lead with 6:07 left in the first half. Oregon would go into halftime leading 33-27.
On the horizon. The Ducks begin regular-season play on Saturday against Northern Arizona.  Oregon will look for increased minutes out of Singler (he was limited to 20 minutes against Southwestern Oklahoma State and only played 18) and will continue to await word on the transfer status of Arsalan Kazemi who is still awaiting clearance from the NCAA.
Other highlights of the Ducks nonconference schedule include a Nov. 16 date with Vanderbilt in Eugene and a trip to UNLV on Nov. 23.  The Ducks will open conference play on the road against OSU in Corvallis on Jan. 6.
