The Oregon men’s basketball team cruised past Idaho State in a dominant performance, winning 87-35 at home. The Ducks are now 8-1 and undefeated at Matthew Knight Arena.
The Ducks scored with ease, shooting 64.5 percent in the first half, but the scoring was balanced. Freshman Damyean Dotson had another impressive performance and led the team in scoring with 12 points. @@http://www.goducks.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=500&ATCLID=205822594@@
Turning point. Oregon scored at will during the first half but what was more impressive was their defense. Oregon headed into the locker room after the first 20 minutes of play with a 54-16 lead. Both teams took to the court for the second half as a formality, as both teams knew who would finish victorious.
While Idaho State is far from elite, the Ducks did what a good team does and ran their opponent out of the building. The hot shooting and stickler defense led Oregon to a lead as large as 52 points in the tail end of the second half with a score of 77-25.
Oregon shot 52.5 percent for the game with every player scoring at least one point. Four were in double figures. With blowout victories over less impressive teams and wins against tournament-level squads like UNLV, the Ducks have given Oregon fans a reason to cheer. With play like this, Oregon could break into the Top 25 by December.
On the horizon. Oregon will try to continue their dominant play at home when they take on Nebraska (6-2) Dec. 15 at Matthew Knight Arena.
