Because of a reporter’s error, in Wednesday’s Emerald (“La Angry Xicana’ bringing one-woman show to UO,” ODE, Apr. 30) the word “Chicano” was incorrectly defined as an American of Mexican descent. Not a label bestowed at birth, MEChA defines “Chicanismo” as something that results from a decision based on political consciousness. The Emerald regrets the error.
