Law enforcers around campus kept busy this weekend breaking up parties and issuing dozens of alcohol- and noise-related citations.
“The weather sure brought everybody out, so there were quite a few MIPs [handed out],” said Department of Public Safety officer Mike Drake.
Temperatures reached 88 degrees on Friday and 94 degrees on Saturday, and University students ventured outside in droves to take advantage of the good weather.
“There were a lot of parties near and on the campus, and there were a lot of alcohol violations,” said Eugene Police Department spokeswoman Melinda Kletzok.
Drake predicted there were up to 300 people at a house party that EPD dispersed Friday night. At one point in the night, Taylor’s was overrun with 100 people more than its capacity limit.
Despite the crowd, EPD and DPS officers “kept things from getting out of hand,” and the weekend was “fairly uneventful” in terms of arrests, Kletzok said.
