Packaged in rose-colored plastic wrap, these cookies are the perfect gift to give your Valentine.
Shortbread cookies:
1/2 cup white sugar
One cup butter, softened
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
Melt butter in microwave for about 30 to 40 seconds. Remove from heat. Add sugar, flour and vanilla. Stir until thoroughly mixed. Remove from bowl and place into a well-greased eight-inch square pan.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes at 400 degrees.
Remove from oven and let cool completely. Cut into squares and begin making the chocolate dipping sauce.
Chocolate Dipping Sauce:
1/2 cup butter
One 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk
Six to eight ounces chocolate chips (You can replace these with butterscotch or caramel chips if you like)
Heat all ingredients in a sauce pan on stove until everything melts together. Remove from heat. Dip the squares of shortbread into the chocolate sauce and set on wax paper to dry. If you like you can also dip them into broken pieces of HEATH toffee bars or almonds.
