A brand new Eugene movie theater opens its doors next week; one that won’t force students to enter a shocking state of 1990s flashback at Gateway Mall.
The theater, Regal Cinemas Valley River Center Stadium 15, officially opens Friday, March 9, but beginning Monday the entertainment giant will offer movies, popcorn and soft drinks, which typically total nearly $15, for only $1 each, according to Regal Entertainment Group’s press release.
Though most the $1 films have already trickled to Springfield’s $1.50 theater, moviegoers can enjoy state-of-the-art stadium seating with comfy chairs and 54-feet-wide screens.
Monday thru Wednesday the theater, located in Valley River Center near retailers Zumiez and Torrid, will screen hit films “Happy Feet,” “The Prestige,” “The Devil Wears Prada” and “The Pursuit of Happiness,” among others. Wednesday’s featured movie classics have all been filmed in Oregon, such as, “Animal House,” “Stand by Me” and “Without Limits.”
All $1 movies and refreshments will benefit local nonprofits.
The theater’s grand opening Friday will feature films “300” and “The Ex.”
