With just one day remaining, the No. 28 women’s golf team remains stuck in last place at the NCAA Championships.
Coming off of a rainy second round Wednesday, Oregon continued to struggle to find a consistent rhythm in the penultimate round. The Ducks shot a 313 (25 over par) for the day, and their overall score now stands at 924 (60 over par).
After beginning the day tied for 12th, freshman Cheyenne Hickle shot a third-round 79 (seven over par) and fell into a 41st-place tie. Her total score of 223 is seven over par for the course.
Sophomore Ashley Edwards matched Hickle’s score of 79, and her overall score of 232 (16 over par) is good for 106th place. Erica Omlid shot a 75 (three over par) for the day, her best score of the tournament so far. The junior is not far behind Edwards with a total score of 233 (17 over par) and is tied for 107th.
The struggles of junior Kendra Little and senior Kate Hildahl continued on Thursday. Little shot a third round 80 (eight over par) and fell to 117th overall. Hildahl also posted an 80 for the day and is currently tied for 120th.
Atop the individual leaderboard is Jennifer Johnson of No. 5 Arizona State. Johnson’s total score of 207 (nine-under par) is just one stroke ahead of No. 25 Oklahoma State’s Caroline Hedwall.
Final round play begins today in what will be Oregon’s final tournament of the season.
