The crown jewel of Oregon’s 2023 recruiting class is no longer with the program.
Wide receiver Jurrion Dickey, who was suspended indefinitely in August, has transferred to Diablo Valley College. The news was first reported by Erik Skopil of 247Sports.
“We’ve got two team rules: be respectful and be on time,” Oregon head coach Dan Lanning said at the time of Dickey’s suspension. “There are some pieces of that where I felt like he needed a break from us, and we needed a break from him, so we can focus on what’s in front of us right now. Wishing him nothing but the best as far as success, and I want to see him get back to where he could be a contributor.”
Dickey had just two catches for 14 yards over his first two seasons as a Duck, and never reached his full potential in Eugene due to injury and off-field issues.
The former five-star recruit had two catches for 53 yards and a touchdown in Diablo Valley’s win over American River last week.
Dickey was the No. 21 overall recruit in the 2023 class per 247Sports, and was the third-highest-rated receiver to sign with the Ducks.
JaJuan Dickey, Jurrion’s brother, is also no longer on Oregon’s roster.
On Sept. 14, Jurrion posted a statement to his X account, which read in full, “I want to take the time out and thank the Oregon community for the incredible support we’ve received from the very beginning. From the moment we arrived, my family and I were welcomed with open arms, and that kindness has truly left a lasting impact on us. The love, encouragement, and unity of the Duck community will always hold a special place in our hearts. We are forever thankful for the way this family has embraced us, and we’re excited for all that lies ahead. Your support continues to inspire us everyday, and we’ll carry that pride wherever the journey takes us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and as always, Go Duck Family!”
