Guest Viewpoint Submission Guidelines
We welcome guest viewpoints from members of our community. To maintain fairness, clarity and journalistic integrity, all submissions must follow these guidelines:
Content Standards

Submissions should focus on personal experience, informed opinion, or commentary on issues of public interest.

Pieces must be original and not previously published elsewhere.
Not permitted:

Promotional material (advertisements, product or service endorsements, fundraising appeals, or event marketing).

Political solicitations (calls to join or donate to a campaign, party, or organization; endorsements of candidates; or recruitment for political groups).

Defamatory, libelous, or discriminatory content directed at individuals or groups.

Obscene or threatening language.
Political commentary:

We welcome commentary on political issues, public policy, elections and civic life, provided it is written as opinion or analysis.

Authors may critique parties, candidates, or government officials, but submissions must stop short of explicit endorsements, campaign advocacy, or direct recruitment.

Submissions should center on the author’s perspective, evidence, or lived experience — not on advancing a political organization’s agenda.

We encourage respectful, evidence-based argument and will not accept unsubstantiated claims, conspiracy theories, or misinformation.
Length and Format
- Typical guest viewpoints run 600–800 words.
- Please provide a suggested headline and a one-sentence author bio.
- You may also provide a suggested image; however, we reserve the right to decide whether or not to publish it.
Editing and Publication

All submissions are subject to editing for clarity, length and accordance with Emerald and AP style.

We reserve the right to decline any submission that does not meet our standards.

Publication is not guaranteed, and editorial decisions are final.
Attribution

Authors must use their real names; anonymous or pseudonymous submissions will not be accepted.

Relevant affiliations may be disclosed for context but should not serve as promotion.
