As the 2025-26 academic year comes to a close, many graduating seniors are getting ready to enter the professional world. For the athletes, many have already been drafted by a pro team, and some are still waiting. Here’s a look at five seniors across all sports.
Bryce Boettcher – Baseball and Football
Born and raised in Eugene, Boettcher graduated from South Eugene High School and became a Duck on a baseball scholarship. After one season, he tried out for football as a walk-on, which eventually became his primary sport. After being drafted by the Houston Astros, Boettcher stayed at Oregon as a linebacker. In his final season, he recorded a career high 136 tackles, five pass deflections, a sack, two forced fumbles and an interception, which he returned 31 yards. Boettcher also saw one play of offense against USC, where he took a direct snap at the one-yard-line and ran it in for a touchdown. He was selected in the fourth round of the NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts.
Nate Bittle – Men’s Basketball
A native to Central Point, Oregon, Bittle arrived in Eugene in 2021. Aside from the 2023-24 season, where he played just five games due to injury, the seven-footer’s minutes per game have increased each season. His strongest season was 2024-25, where he averaged 14.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.1 blocks in 35 games while shooting 51.1% from the field and 33.6% from three. In his final season, he played just 25 games, but averaged 16.8 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.8 blocks while shooting 46.5% on the floor and 31.9% from three. Bittle has declared for the NBA Draft and will most likely play for a G-League team next season.
Mia Jacobs – Women’s Basketball
Jacobs had three seasons of college experience before arriving in Oregon. A native of Perth, Australia, she began her collegiate career at La Salle University in 2022. After one season there, Jacobs transferred west to Fresno State University, where she spent two seasons before capping off her college career in Eugene. In her one season as a Duck, Jacobs appeared in 34 games, all as a starter. She averaged 12.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 26.8 minutes per game. Jacobs shot 41.1% from the floor, 35.6% from three and 82.8% from the free throw line. It is uncertain where Jacobs will go next, but she will bring a wide range of skills wherever the road takes her.
Drew Smith – Baseball
As his collegiate career wraps up, the utility player from Clovis, California, known as “Mr Clutch” to many of his teammates has spent all four years in a Ducks uniform. Smith’s bat has been a key contributor to their success as he held a batting average of .332 following the conclusion of the Eugene Regional. In 220 at-bats, he has recorded 73 hits and 61 RBIs while scoring 46 runs, including 15 home runs. Smith was named to the Regional All-Tournament Team in 2025 and 2024. After winning the Eugene Regional, the Ducks aren’t done yet, and Smith still has a chance to make the best impression of himself before entering the MLB Draft.
Elon Butler – Softball
After growing up in San Jose, California, Butler spent three seasons at Cal before transferring to Oregon for her final year. In her one season in a Ducks uniform, Butler took 168 at-bats and recorded a batting average of .399. She recorded 67 hits and 59 RBIs while hitting 19 home runs. Butler had just one hit during the three games of the Eugene Regional, which was a solo home run in the final game against Saint Mary’s where Oregon was eliminated. Her strongest game came on April 4 against Iowa, where she had six hits including a triple and scored four runs. It is rare for NCAA softball players to go pro, but Butler beat those odds and is headed to the Chicago Bandits of the AUSL.
