The lively music resonates throughout the studio, luring students to the mirror where they eagerly commence practicing the dance of the week. Explicit Dance goes beyond being just a Group X class at the REC; it’s a dynamic space where individuals unite to alleviate the week’s stress.
For college students, discovering enjoyable outlets that seamlessly blend fun and proactive exercise can prove challenging. Explicit Dance emerges as an exhilarating solution, offering a space for people to gather, have fun and maintain an active lifestyle. The term “explicit” in Explicit Dance stems from the lively yet unfiltered songs the instructors play during the class.
“It’s just so fun! I feel like it releases any negative energy I’m carrying throughout the week,” Nicole McCutcheon, a senior Education student, said. “Even if I go there in a bad mood or over thinking something I leave feeling so much lighter and clearer.”
In the bustling community of Eugene, the significance of creating and fostering environments like these is often underestimated. The communal aspect of joining friends for a local dance class adds an extra layer of value that cannot be overstated. Beyond the physical benefits of exercise, this shared experience provides an avenue for social connection, stress relief and personal growth.
In the midst of the hectic pace of life, especially during pivotal moments, the importance of having a hobby becomes increasingly apparent. A local dance class not only offers a break from the demands of daily life, but also serves as a meaningful way to invest time in oneself. In these environments, individuals not only engage in physical activity but also find a supportive community that shares the journey of navigating stress and managing time effectively.
Recognizing the need for such spaces is crucial in promoting overall well-being within the Eugene community. By acknowledging the positive impact of local dance classes and similar activities, we pave the way for a more holistic approach to managing the challenges of life.
“Having explicit dance parties on a Sunday is so therapeutic,” Mason Olivier, a junior psychology student, said. “It is by far my favorite way to work out, and is so easy because you can just jump in and learn the choreography on the spot. Not to mention it’s a great work out!”
