Junior Kevin Farin was dismissed from the Oregon men’s tennis team “about a week, a week and a half ago,” according to the Oregon Athletic Department.
Farin remains on the 2015 roster as of Monday morning.
“We want to thank Kevin for all of his contributions to the program,” Oregon tennis head coach Nils Schyllander said in a statement provided by the athletic department. “Unfortunately, we had to part ways, but we wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
The athletic department declined to comment on why Farin was dismissed.
Farin, a Etterbeek, Belgium native, joined Oregon men’s tennis for the 2013-2014 season after spending a year at the University of Brussels.
This season, Farin paired most often with sophomore Jayson Amos in doubles. The two won seven out of 12 matches together – 11 of which were at the No. 1 position. In singles, Farin earned an 11-7 overall record while competing at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions.
In the 2013-2014 campaign Farin paired with Robin Cambier and their 24-7 record is the second most wins in a single season in program history. The two ranked as high as No. 44 in the ITA national doubles rankings.
Farin also went 18-13 in singles that season – the third most wins on the team. He helped Oregon reach its first ever appearance in the Pac-12 Championship semifinals last year.
