Oregon softball’s Jenna Lilley is a finalist for the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Freshman of the Year award, announced Wednesday morning.
The winner will be announced during a live ceremony on May 26 prior to the start of the 2015 NCAA College World Series in Oklahoma City.
The other finalists include Alabama’s Alexis Osorio and Oklahoma’s Paige Parker.
Lilley was named the Pac-12’s Freshman of the Year following the conclusion of the regular season. She’s the only Duck to start all 55 games this season for head coach Mike White.
Lilley was twice-named Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week, ranks third among Pac-12 batters with a .441 average. Her average, doubles (16), runs scored (57) and 36 walks lead the Ducks.
She also has six home runs, 15 stolen bases and 44 RBI.
Lilley and the Ducks meet N.C. State in the Super Regional round of the NCAA championship this weekend at Howe Field. The first game of the series is on Friday at 6:30 p.m. on ESPNU with the second game on Saturday at noon on ESPNU. A final game, if necessary, will be played on Saturday at 3 p.m.
