**Editor’s Note: This story first appeared in the Emerald’s Duck Season magazine, a preview of the Oregon football team’s upcoming season that is currently available for free at all Duck Store locations in Eugene. We will post each story in the days leading up to the first day of fall practice on Aug. 10.
Oregon’s special teams unit will look very similar to last season’s. While Matt Wogan began the the 2014-2015 season as the the the only starting kicker and punter, his play time was much more limited by the end of the year. During the season, however, Ian Wheeler became the punter while Aidan Schneider handled most of the place-kicking duties. Oregon expects to have the same alignment in 2015-2016. As was the case last season, Charles Nelson — who may switch from wide receiver to cornerback — will likely be the primary kick and punt returner. Fan favorite Johnathan Lloyd has exhausted his NCAA eligibilty, however, and has finished his football career at Oregon.
