“It was nice to play someone just to be able to look at the tape and see things to work on,” Oregon coach Ernie Kent said. “There were some things that we need to work on. The 20 turnovers were too many.”
Still, the 20 turnovers didn’t exactly hurt Oregon. The Ducks trailed 6-4 early in the first half but promptly went on a 17-0 run and led by double digits in about five minutes.
Senior guard Bryce Taylor led the Ducks with 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting, including 3-of-4 from behind the three-point line.
Freshmen guards LeKendric Longmire and Kamyron Brown also scored 14 and 12 points apiece, respectively. Brown also had five assists while playing from the point guard position.
“I was really impressed with Kamyron,” Kent said. “He’s got a chance to be real good at this level.”
Sophomore guard Tajuan Porter added 12 points, but went 2-of-7 from the beyond the arc. The Ducks shot 56.9 percent from the field as a team and 34.8 percent from three-point range.
While four of the five Oregon starters averaged over 20 minutes of playing time, senior Malik Hairston was in foul trouble early and left the game in the second half after his fifth foul. Hairston finished the game with five points in eight minutes.
The Ducks’ next exhibition game is on Tuesday against Concordia at 7 p.m. Their regular season begins Saturday against Pepperdine at McArthur Court.
