Briefly explain your platform.
Fiscal conservatism. I think we need more creative ideas about how to save students’ money, and less creative ideas about how to throw it away.
What qualities and experience qualify you to be an ASUO senator?
As a current ASUO senator, I know how things work. I’m comfortable, I’m easy to get along with and I know how government works. I don’t think anyone is ever prepared for everything that comes up in Senate.
What are your thoughts on the purpose and size of the student incidental fee?
I think the purpose of it is good but the size of it is wrong. We have the second largest student government in the country and the largest I-fee. As a Senate, we should be speaking not for student groups that come and lobby us for money, but for the students.
How should the DFC deal with Campus Recycling’s budget next year?
I was a supporter of the Campus Recycling budget this year. It needs a lot of scrutiny and we gave them that.
In light of the cuts to the University administration’s budget, should the Career Center reconsider its decision to wean itself off the incidental fee?
The Career Center has wanted to wean itself off of the incidental fee. It should be paid for by the general fund. If it has to be funded by the I-fee, we’re ready to do that. But it should be funded by the general fund.
