The NCAA released the first ITA collegiate rankings of the 2016 season Tuesday afternoon, and Oregon men’s tennis landed in the 49th spot.
The Ducks, who finished fifth in the PAC-12 last year with a 15-9 record, received the fifth best ranking for a PAC-12 team. As was the case last season, the Ducks will have to jump ahead of the four California schools of they hope to break into the top half of the conference.
Last year’s conference champion USC Trojans are ranked eighth and were one of four PAC-12 teams to land in the top-25. UCLA (14), Stanford (20), and California (21) garnered top-25 recognition as well.
Oregon senior Daan Maasland is ranked 113th in the men’s nationals singles ranking — a substantial drop from his preseason ranking of 66th in the Sep. 5 preseason rankings. Maasland was the only Oregon player to receive a spot in the top 125.
University of California standout Andre Goransson is the top-ranked PAC-12 player at third in the nation.
