Emerald alumnus Lou Parker (1961) was in Tempe, Ariz., Jan. 1, 2002, for the Fiesta Bowl. Parker was an Oregon Daily Emerald staff photographer as well as photo editor from 1957 to 1961. Parker’s duties while at the ODE were to run a weekly full page photo spread entitled “Pictorally Yours” as well as manage all photos for the daily paper. He also covered the 1958 Rose Bowl.
Parker now lives in Phoenix, Ariz. and sent us this note with the photos: “I thought it might be interesting for the ODE to have some photos from such an “old” (God, that sounds awful) photo editor alum who traveled with the team (back in the old DC-6 days) and Len Casanova to Pasadena in ’58. In case you don’t remember, unfortunately, Oregon lost to Ohio State 10-7, but it was a great game and the Ducks’ first bowl appearance at that time since the 1947 Cotton Bowl with Norm Van Brocklin.”
